On-Demand Classroom
Welcome to your online virtual learning space!
Hearten HQ’s online learning platform gives you access to free or low cost educational resources that serve to broaden perspectives and brighten hearts.
As a licensed mental health therapist and social worker for the past 12+ years, I have received a ton of valuable (however expensive!) continuing education. I specialize in working with folks with trauma, attachment wounds, addictions, and broken relationships. I have worked with hundreds of individuals and families over the years to support them in cultivating deeper, stronger relationships with themselves and others — be it with their partners, children, or family members. I have extensive training in polyvagal theory, nervous system development, and attachment — as well as a non-pathologizing lens on mental health care.
There is so much gatekeeping around these concepts and theories, and often people don’t learn about them (if ever!) until they’re already sitting in a therapist’s office. I hear statements like “this is the first time I’m learning about this!” or “I wish I knew this earlier!” all. the. time.
Hearten HQ exists to make this information more accessible to everyone. The information shared here through my online learning platform is information that myself and countless clients of mine over the years have found utterly life-changing. This is the stuff that has transformed relationships, changed minds, and finally allowed for deep healing to take place. Thanks for being here!

What is Attachment Theory?
Attachment Theory explains that we come into this world wired to connect. We experience a felt sense of safety and security when the caregivers in our environment offer us consistent, predictable, physical and emotional safety. When we don’t experience this felt safety, we can develop insecurities in our relationships that carry on into adulthood. Presence and attunement from safe others is a biological requirement from cradle to grave, and whether or not we receive it quite literally shapes our neurological development and long term outlooks for both our physical and mental health. Secure attachment is the ultimate resource through which we can build competence and resilience for thriving in an uncertain world.

What is Polyvagal Theory?
Polyvagal Theory examines the inner-workings of our autonomic nervous system, and explains that we shift from one “state” to another in response to cues for either safety or danger in our environment. These shifts carry with them subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) changes to our thoughts, behaviors, physiology and sensory input - all of which influence how we show up in our relationships, roles, and communities. A deeper understanding of how these shifts work can lead to profound change. We all have the opportunity to learn how to better support our autonomic nervous system such that we experience more peace and connection in our lives and relationships.
